A Lucky Nickle and Penny on Walk to Post Office and Grocery Store

This afternoon, I had to mail a package off at my local Canada Post office. On the way there, I found a lucky nickle :)

After mailing my package, I swung by a local grocery store to pick up some organic Italian seasoning as I'd like to experiment with some flax cracker recipes (I have another blog that includes recipes for organic raw vegan food). On the way home, I found a lucky penny :)

As it's the end of January, it's seems a good time to calculate my daily "running average" (a calculation I used to track my found change performance). It's 2.68/31 ~ $0.08 per day (rounded down to the nearest cent). If I keep this daily found change average up, I should have about $29.20 in found change by the end of 2010 :)

Lucky Dime on Trip to OrganicLives and Walk Downtown

Today I went for lunch at OrganicLives (1829 Quebec Street, Vancouver, BC) for a meal with a friend. You can watch a video of our meal of organic raw (vegan) food on YouTube. Afterward we walked past the new Olympic Village and then into Yaletown. After saying goodbye to my friend, I continued to walk to Grandville Skytrain Station to go home. Along the way I found a dime :)

Having made some progress on my work earlier, I decided to treat myself by going on a quick trip to OrganicLives to pick up a few organic raw food items. More Groceries - More Lucky Pennies

As you can probably gauge by now, a common theme here on the Lucky Penny Journal is that I go out to get fresh organic raw fruits and vegetables and other raw vegan food almost every couple of days. Today was no exception. I took a trip to OrganicLives to pick up some organic dates, pine nuts, and other items. On the trip, I found two lucky pennies. This evening, I went to a local grocery store to pick up some organic bananas and organic cinnamon. On the way home I found another lucky penny. Part of the purpose of these trips is partially to get some exercise - going for regular walks is an important part of maintaining basic fitness.

This morning I had to go a bank to take care of an errand. I found two lucky pennies on the trip home. This afternoon on my walk back from the local laundromat, I found another lucky penny. Lastly, this evening, I took advantage of the improving weather to get some fresh air. I went to OrganicLives to get a green juice. On my trip home I found an additional lucky penny :)

This evening, I went for another walk to a local grocery store to pick up some organic bananas and a few other items.  I found one lucky penny on the trip.

Walk to Art Show Opening and to Eternal Abundance for Organic Fruits and Vegetables

Last this afternoon and earlier this evening I ventured to Commercial Drive to check out the opening of  Steve Stanczyk's "THESE FACES THIS HISTORY" show at Havana Restaurant's Art Gallery (1212 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC).  The show runs from January 10 to January 23, 2010.  After talking to Steve and the gallery director for a bit, I grabbed a few organic fruits and vegetables from Eternal Abundance.  While there I ran into the owner of Gorilla Food (an organic raw vegan restaurant).  I'm writing a post, so obviously I found some change on this nice outing: $0.13 -- one dime and 3 lucky pennies :)

Today, as a break from work, I took a quick walk to deposit some of the change I had rolled from the found change from 2009. On my trip back I found a nickel (5 cents) :)

This evening I went to a get-together at a friend's place in downtown Vancouver, BC, Canada.  For some reason, the west side of Hornby Street is usually pretty good to me for found change, particularly lucky pennies.  The total found change for the trip to and back from the get together was $0.42 - a quarter, a dime, a nickel, and two lucky pennies :)

Mid-day Walk To Downtown Vancouver Music Store and Organic Raw Vegan Restuarant - and Found Change!

The sun was poking out of the clouds a bit today in Vancouver, BC around mid-day.  To soak up a little sun, I went for a walk to a downtown music store to pick up some new strings and a stand for my steel-string acoustic guitar.  While downtown, I also got some organic raw vegan food at Gorilla Food.  In any case, while walking to and from my trip downtown, I found a dime and two lucky pennies :)

In my previous post I discussed a calculation I like to use to track my found change performance.   We are now 7 days into the new year.  Using that calculation, my "running average" is $0.43/7days ~ $0.06/day.   If I keep this average up, I'll have found $0.06 x 365days = $21.90 in change by the end of 2010.

Yet Another Lucky Penny!

My daily walk today took me to the Value Village on Edmonds Street in Burnaby, BC, Canada in order to drop off a few household items I wanted to clear out.  On the trip home, I found yet another lucky penny!

Here's a simple calculation that I like to do to track how my finds over the course of the year.  I take my total recorded for the year, then divide by the the number of days into the year -- at the end of the year (i.e., day 365), I then have my daily average for the year.  For example, today is January 6, 2010.  It's the 6th day of the year.  So my "running average" (is there a more appropriate term?) is $0.31/6 ~ $0.05 - that is, over the last 6 days, I've found approximately 5 cents per day. This is actually not that bad. If I keep up this "running average" I'll have found about $18.25 ($0.05/day x 365 days) by the end of 2010. For comparison, my daily average for 2009 was $24.50/365 days ~ 0.067 cents per day.

After doing some work this morning, I took a walk to my local library to get out a book on Canadian coins so that I could answer a question about the value of Canadian pennies posted as a comment to my checklist of valuable Canadian coins.  On one of the paths leading out the library I found a dime :)

Last night, I took a long walk around downtown Vancouver to get out of the house and get some air & exercise.  Despite it already being dark (making it hard to find lucky pennies), I was able to find $0.12 - a dime and 2 lucky pennies :)
